Our New Bike Track

Our school has a new bike track. We have a container filled with bikes and helmets for us to use. We have learnt how to:

  • fit and adjust our helmets
  • check the tyres
  • check the chain and make sure it has oil on it
  • check that the handlebars are straight and when we turn them the wheel turns too
  • check that the seat is positioned just below the height of our hip
Now we are learning movement skills for biking and balancing. Some of us have bikes at home so are quite confident and others are still learning to balance.
Have you got a bike track at your school?

Wow! that's really nice you all get to learn use bikes to learn how to move and balance on your bikes. Your are showing to be responsible bike riders by learning to adjust your helmets, check the tyres and chain of your bikes. Its really amazing you all have learnt how to do these things.
Yes, we do have scooters we use at our school. We do not have a bike track at our school but we go the skate park near our school. One of our duty teachers takes us there during morning tea times with help of some senior children.
    Thank you for sharing

    1. Kia ora,
Having a skatepark by your school sounds so cool! You are lucky. Our skatepark is being rebuilt at the moment. We can't wait for it to be finished but it is a long way from our scchool.
Do you have ramps and a half pipe at your skatepark?

Wow! The bike track looks fantastic! What fun it must be to get a bike and ride on it.
I love riding my bike that I have at home and I often go down along the beach and the river on the walkway.
Where do you ride your bike at home?

We ride our bikes on the front lawn, up and down the driveway, around our houses and sometimes we even go on the road for a bike ride with our family. Thats when we bike to school, to the gym, to town and to our friend's houses.
Have you tried an electric bike? Some of us have.

    2. Kia ora Room4,
Hmmmmm! Electric bike. Funny you should ask me if I have tried one because I was talking to my daughter about getting one the other day. For now though I think riding my ordinary bike will help me in my recovery and get my legs and hip moving to make them stronger.
