For today's experiment, we made gummy worms. Now we are using appropriate words and phrases to exlplain what happened.
We are a class of year 2 and 3 learners at St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Turanganui-a-Kiwa/Gisborne, New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Naden.

Hi Room 1!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great activity - thanks for sharing the gummy worm videos and the clips of your class making them! We were wondering... what is the worm juice? what was the activator? are the worms edible? Did you make gummy drops too?
We might have to give this a go too :)
From Tui Class
Hi Tui Class,
DeleteThe worm juice is actually sodium alginate (from seaweed), the activator solution was 1 teaspoon of calcium chloride mixed into 2 cups of water. This is what causes the chemical reaction. And no they are not edible =(
